How We Met: Chris and I met on Match.com in the spring of 2010. I had gone on a couple of first dates with a few men from the site; however, I was incredibly nervous to meet with Chris for some reason. The running joke in my family is that I was so nervous the day I was to meet him for dinner that I only ate a pudding cup all day! I shouldn’t have been nervous though – we hit it off and were quickly inseparable. We went on our first vacation together only a month after meeting to the Cayman Islands, and we talked about rings and engagement and our future while floating around in the warm Caribbean Sea! The rest is history.
how they asked: Chris and I went to California for vacation in the summer of 2012. We rented a car and drove to Disneyland, La Jolla, and San Diego. Before leaving for the trip, Chris told me he had made reservations for the night we were going to be in La Jolla for a trendy rooftop restaurant that overlooked the Pacific Ocean. We go out for dinner often, so I thought nothing of it (side note about Chris: he is type A all the way, so I figured there was NO WAY he would travel with a ring!). We enjoyed dinner and decided to walk down to the beach that was behind our hotel. We were walking along when all of a sudden, Chris turned to me, took my hands in his and said, “You know I love you, right?” I was a little confused, but next thing I knew, he was down on one knee in front of me telling me he loves me and wants to grow old with me. I was shocked and crying and saying yes at the same time. After a moment of celebration, he pointed out the photographer hiding behind a rock on the beach and we had an impromptu photo shoot. It is a moment in time that I will never forget and one that I have captured forever because Chris was thoughtful enough to hire a photographer. Love that man!
