How We Met
Carl and I met when he DJ’d my 16th birthday party. We had known of each other prior but became closer friends when discussing and organizing the party. After a few more months of getting to know each other, he asked me to be his girlfriend in late 2011.
How They Asked
Carl and I had spoken about marriage for a number of years as we have now been together for over ten years. We were both very young when we started dating and so had no intentions of getting engaged and married very early in our relationship. Carl was then diagnosed with Crohn’s disease almost three years ago and we both decided that his health was our priority and that an engagement and wedding could wait until we both better understood how to live with an autoimmune disease.
Carl organized a day trip and picnic to the hunter to visit some of our favorite wineries. He’d told me that he’d booked two wine tastings and when we arrived at our second stop for the day I was confused because I couldn’t see signage for a cellar door. He assured me that we were going the right way and led me down a path through gardens.
As we rounded a corner I saw the beautiful picnic set up and once we got close he dropped to one knee to ask me to marry him. I immediately said yes and then realized he’d also organized a photographer to capture the moment as well which was so special to me. The ring was even more beautiful than I could have imagined! We had spoken about rings before and I had shown him some styles I liked but he made the final choice and it is perfect. After taking some pictures and enjoying a glass of champagne we sent some photos to family and friends.
Carl let me know that he’s also booked accommodation and dinner for the night to celebrate. He even packed me a bag with everything I would need for the night and the next day. Carl couldn’t have spoken more highly about the team from My Proposal Co for their help and advice in the planning of the proposal. We both appreciated the effort and work the team, stylist, and photographer all put in to pull it all together for the surprise.
