Lauren and Adam
How We Met
Adam and I met on eharmony.com. Our first conversation took place on February 14th, 2016, with our first date on February 19th, 2016. We agreed to meet at Noodles and Company one Friday after work, due to our mutual love of macaroni and cheese. This also gave us a quick out if we didn’t like each other since it was a casual setting. Turns out we didn’t need that easy out, and our date ending up lasting 5 hours. We would have stayed longer, but the restaurant was closing! We ended up seeing each other 3 more times that weekend, and by February 28th, 2016, we were “Facebook Official”.
how they asked
In the fall of 2017, we planned a trip to Walt Disney World. Being a former participant in the Disney College Program, Disney runs in my veins. As this was nearing our 2-year anniversary mark, we both knew an engagement was on the horizon. I was totally convinced it would happen at Disney World, as it’s been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. My friends and family completely convinced me it would happen on this trip, so of course, I was getting excited. The week before I had my nails done and got my hair cut, I was ready!
On Friday, October 27th, 2017, there was an event at our local Botanic Gardens called “Night of 1000 Jack-O-Lanterns”. I thought it would be a fun fall activity so I mentioned it to Adam, and he bought tickets for the evening. Little did I know I set up my own proposal. It was a cold night and I was crabby. The line to get into the gardens was long, and all I wanted was a spiked Apple Cider. Once we were inside, with an Apple Cider in my hand, my mood shifted dramatically. The pumpkins were awesome, and the company was of course, great. Adam wouldn’t get off his phone that night, which is very unlike him, so I was a little bugged by that, but he kept telling me he was talking to his twin brother, so I let it slide.
We got to the end of the pumpkins display, and Adam wanted to see a little more of the gardens. All I wanted at this point was my sweatpants and a glass of wine, but I reluctantly agreed. We went off to the side a little and next thing I know, Adam is telling me how much he loves me, and is on one knee, with the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen, in a light up box to see it in the night. I hear camera clicking and I soon learn he asked my sister’s sister-in-law to take our photos. I was over the moon. All I wanted to do was call my sister and mom, but Adam told me to wait until we got to the car so we could get warm. On our way out we walk into the building that takes us to our car, and waiting there for us with champagne is my parents, my sister and brother in law, my brother, my grandma, and Adam’s parents and sister. I couldn’t believe he pulled all this off without me knowing! I can be very nosy, so he did a wonderful job hiding this. My mom lets us know we have reservations at a restaurant afterward, so on the car ride over I am texting and FaceTiming all of my friends the good news. When we get to the restaurant, my best friends, Adams friends, and more of our family are there waiting for us. It was truly the most magical night of my life. Adam completely surprised me by not doing it at Disney, and this was so much better because I got to see my friends and family after. The next week we went to Walt Disney World and we got to celebrate being a newly engaged couple in The Most Magical Place On Earth.
