How We Met
We met at a party my friend Claire invited me to. It was Melbourne cup which is a big horse racing event in Australia. She knew I had a thing for Irish guys and there were supposed to be a few there as the boss was Irish. Funnily enough I said “I need to find myself a nice Australian man”. Evan was the only one there and lucky for me we hit it off. We spoke about a Central and South America trip the first time we met.
how they asked
4 years later we ended up on that amazing trip we spoke about on our first meeting. Quit our jobs and set off on a one year trip through Mexico, Cuba, Central and South america. Three months into the trip he surprised me with a boat ride that took us to a private caribbean island. It was raining so I couldn’t really see what we were driving up to.
Once we got off the boat I was a little suspicious but he had thrown me off saying he’d have to save for a ring after this trip. At sunrise we went out to the beach and none the wiser went to take a pic just like so many of our previous travel photos. He set the camera up, we walked along the beach and he got down on one knee and proposed. I was so surprised and I said “of course YES” we spent the whole day, just the two of us. No WiFi, no phones. Loved that we could have to moment to ourselves. We swam off the beach, snorkelled. He cooked fresh fish and we shared a nice white wine and lots of laughter. It was the most romantic thing. More than I could have ever imagined.
