Latasha and Marc's Lighthouse Marriage Proposal

Image 1 of Latasha and Marc's Lighthouse Marriage ProposalHow we met: The history between us is a wonderful story. Marc and I met in high school when we were 15 years old. We went on our first date and instantly fell for one another. The summer of my senior year in high school, my dad delivered the news to me that we would be moving to Okinawa, Japan. My dad was in the Air Force so moving every few years is something I was used to and I knew it would happen sooner or later. I knew that would make things much harder for Marc and I to continue our relationship if we lived in different countries. I moved to Japan and we remained in a relationship. Marc even came to visit me while I was living in Japan. I knew that it would be years before I moved back stateside so Marc and I decided to go our separate ways. We remained friends really close friends for six years. Marc eventually got his Master’s in Health Administration and became a Commissioned Officer in the Navy. I eventually moved back stateside and began working. At this point, we were both in stable parts of our lives, and he asked me to come and visit him at his base. When I arrived in Maine, we instantly connected. We began dating, and after half a year, I took the next step and moved to Maine from Alabama. We dated ever since and he popped the question on May 4, 2014.

how they asked: Marc told me we were having brunch with his co-workers out by the Nubble Lighthouse in Maine. I was dressed very casual until I noticed he was a little more dressy than I was. So I thought I would change into aImage 2 of Latasha and Marc's Lighthouse Marriage Proposal dress. When we got to the Nubble Lighthouse, Marc told me that his friends were running late and we should walk around the Nubble Lighthouse until they arrived.

We started walking around and he asked if I wanted to get a photo of us since we were both dressed nice. Marc asked a “stranger” if he wouldn’t mind taking our picture. The man obliged, and as we began to pose for the picture, I saw Marc go into his pocket and he said some of the sweetest things in the world.

Seeing him on his knee and shedding a few tears really touched me. While crying, of course I told him yes. There were people out at the lighthouse clapping and cheering for us. Marc hired a professional photographer who filmed the proposal and captured the special moment.

The Nubble Lighthouse was such a special place for this proposal because it was the first place that he took me to when I came to Maine to visit for the first time. Our story is very unique and special because we dated in high school for 3 and hlf years and after 6 years of living separate lives and dating other people, we somehow found our way back to each other. I can truly identify with the quote, “If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be.”
