William and Larissa met on a church trip when they were 16. She called him a cowboy, he thought she was a girly girl.
Fast Forward to SIX YEARS LATER…
William walks into Starbucks where Larissa is studying. She notices a “country-lookin man” from the corner of her eye, and hoped he would notice her. Little did she know it was William. They talked for two and a half hours that day, met up that night at a concert and the next day realized they had so much in common: a love for the outdoors, the country side, Springville, hiking, the river, coffee, bright colored running shoes, all types of music, and of course Alan Jackson. He picked her a wild sunflower every time they were together after that. They fell in love and the rest is history. Only 8 1/2 months later he asked her to marry him and of course she said yes! Its crazy to think that William grew up only five minutes from Larissa his whole life, and that he would soon marry the girl next door.
how they asked: March 12th, 2015. It was a gorgeous spring day and I (Larissa) was home visiting for the weekend. William planned a day full of many surprises, a day I will always remember. We both find joy in God’s beautiful creation, so naturally, he planned a picnic for us on the cattle ranch that his family manages. We picked up food from Orange Works, our favorite place to eat in town. As we finished up our picnic under a beautiful oak tree, he took me to another spot on the cattle ranch. As we walked into a beautiful field of wildflowers, we began to pick wildflower bouquets (one of my favorite things to do).
As we picked the flowers, he began to talk to me about things he looks forward to in our future, when we get married, and what he loves about me. We came across a rare batch of yellow daises that I thought were so beautiful. I hugged him and felt his heart beating fast, which made me think something was going on. As I began to walk away I said, “I’m going to pick more wildflowers.” Very smoothly he replied, “Can I ask you a question first?” He got down on one knee and my immediate reaction was, “Is this really happening right now? Are you kidding me? Are you serious? Oh my gosh!” He said yes, and then asked me, “Larissa Jade Clem, will you marry me, be my wife, and become Larissa Jade Wells?” And of course I said YES! He then put the most beautiful ring I have ever seen on my finger. It was a day full of such joy, celebration, and love. I am beyond grateful that God brought the man of my dreams, William, into my life to spend forever with.
