Larissa and Daniel
How We Met
We met through a mutual friend in the small town we were living at the time and we started to see each other regularly. We both joined the military and we’re waiting for our ship out dates, but we knew we wanted to stay together. We knew the love we had for each other was unlike any other, but our family and friends didn’t think our relationship would last since we joined separate branches. We left for our military training the summer of 2013. We were apart for the first year and a half but the days we got to see each other were so special to us. After that time the military brought us together in Virginia where we have been living for the last two years. We have been through deployments and underways but they have only made our love stronger. Being in separate branches is rough when you are not married, but we have made the best of it for the past three years.
how they asked
Daniel had just came home from an underway and we took leave to see his family in southeastern Georgia. I have been asking for professional photos of us for a while but him going in and out to sea made it difficult to schedule. Finally we made plans to get them done in downtown Savannah since it’s one of the most romantic cities in America. We took the day to scout out place to take pictures and see the beauty of the city until our shoot started in the late afternoon. Once we were taking photos and we got to Monterey Square in the hydrangeas (my favorite flowers) he looked at me and told me that he got me a birthday present. Since my birthday is in February I was confused but we had been saying funny things to each other during the photos to make each other laugh and keep it relaxed, so I didn’t think anything of it. He was just really nervous. But then he said I mean I have you an anniversary present for our third year together and got down on his knee and asked me to marry him.
I immediately said “you better not be kidding” and then started crying when he pulled out the ring. I scheduled the photographer myself so she had no clue he was going to do this. She got the shot, and that’s what mattered to us. We then went from a couples shoot to our engagement shoot and walked around Forsyth Park to finish our photos. It was such a beautiful place and such a magical experience with the love of my life. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal.
