Lacey and David

How We Met

With the help of a free dating site, OK Cupid, we were able to make a connection based on mutual likes and dislikes. After weeks of talking solely online, we decided to meet in person to further explore our interests. The first date took place at Universal Studios Orlando. Let’s just say things went much better than planned. A date that started at 10 AM didn’t come to an end until close to midnight. With roller coasters, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a movie, and miniature golf, it was the perfect first date that neither of us wanted to end. Needless to say, we both have had those butterfly feelings grow and expand over the last two years, which is the reason you are reading this article now!

how they asked

We had many discussions throughout the years about the future and getting married. Soon David began to realize that surprising me with a proposal was going to be a difficult feat, especially since it seemed to be all I ever talked about. But spoiler alert, he was able to pull it off! While I was planning his birthday celebration, including two Disney behind the scenes tours, David was contacting family and friends for advice and help with the deception. I called to invite my parents to David’s birthday dinner at the Rainforest Café, and they told me they would be unable to make it due to prior obligations. Much to my delight, my parents were part of the act and were at the restaurant to greet us after the engagement. Well his day of birth arrived and so did the planned celebrations.

Engagement Proposal Ideas in Disneys Animal Kingdom

David was surprisingly willing to take pictures at all the places I requested, which should have been a clue but went unnoticed. David also made multiple trips to the restroom to make sure the ring was in the box properly (and to calm his nerves). This behavior went unnoticed as well. And finally, after a long and hot day at Epcot and Animal Kingdom, David requested they take one more picture before heading to meet his parents for dinner. There, in front of the Tree of Life, David got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised I almost didn’t say anything, but I did automatically stick my left hand out to accept the ring. David swears to this day that I never actually gave a verbal reply but either way, we are going to live happily ever after.
