Lacee and Sawyer

Sawyer and I first “met” when we were three. We both went to a preschool at our home church, and from then on we grew up around one another. We were never really close as we got older, but once I entered the 7th grade I knew I liked him. We went through our high school years, and I never once told him I liked him nor did I talk to him cause I was way too nervous. Once I left for college, I thought we would probably not talk again, so I just pushed him to the back of my mind. At the end of my sophomore year of college, I decided to message him and ask a question about something going on at church, and to my surprise he messaged back, and from that moment on, I knew he was the one. There hasn’t been a moment since then that we haven’t talked. After our first date, and then a second I finally asked him if we were an official couple, and he said, “I thought we already were.” On June 21, 2014 is when he officially became mine. We dated for a year and 3 months, when he decided to pop the question. Heres how he did it…

Sawyer graduated from college on May 9, 2015, and as a celebration he was going to have a party at his grandparents lake house, and invite everyone he could. As you know, Texas weather can be bipolar, well Texas decided to rain every single day in May, so we couldn’t celebrate his graduation, and summer just got way too busy to try to plan it. He told me that his mom decided to have the party on August 15, before everyone went back to school. During the week before the party, I had planned my friends and I going out before we headed back to school to go get our nails done, and go out to eat, and my mom wanted to go shopping for a new out fit for the party. Of course my mom, and my friends knew what was going to happen so it all worked out to wear I had my nails done and a new dress for the party. Once saturday hit, we were getting ready for the party, and I still had no idea what was going on. I just knew it was a party for sawyers graduation. We headed to his party. His family, my family, and our family friends were all there. A few minutes after we got there he tells me that we should go check his fishing pole, as we walked out there, I noticed the neighbor had a really nice pool and turned away from him. Once I turned around, he was down on one knee, and behind him across the lake, his friend, brother, my brother, my best friend, and his sister were holding up a sign that said, “Will you marry me?” I couldn’t believe what was happening. I just kept saying, ” No this isn’t real!” then I finally said, “Yes, I will marry you!”

In the end, the party was really for our engagement, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. He planned everything, and he picked out the ring all on his own. I couldn’t be happier to marry my best friend and love of my life.
