How We Met
Jesse and I met through his mother. His mother is my hairdresser and she was quite adamant that I meet her son. She thought we had similar interests and thought we would make a good couple. Even though I thought he was SO cute, I would never have been the first to message him, as I was young and shy. One day I got a message from him! I was so excited, but once I opened it I realized he had only messaged me to apologize for his mother bugging me so much about him. What a bummer, eh! Of course, after the initial apology, we kept talking from there and the rest is history. To this DAY, he still says that his initial message was only with the intention of apologizing and not because he was interested.
How They Asked
Jesse and I have quite the story leading up to the proposal, and I know all proposals are so so special, but our time together almost ran short.
In April of 2020, Jesse had a very severe accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury, a broken back in multiple places, two collapsed and punctured lungs, multiple broken ribs and so many other internal injuries that led to him being in a coma. There was so much unknown..would he wake up? If he did, would he be able to recover? The brain trauma was so severe they were unable to predict an outcome.
Fortunately, as Jesse got going in rehab, he began surpassing goals faster and faster and recovering so well. Now, fast forward 11 months and a lot of hard work later he is doing very well and plans to return to work soon. His recovery is nothing short of a miracle. Getting engaged is something that 11 months ago, I never thought would happen for us.
On February 28th, 2021 Jesse suggested we go for a morning snowshoe, which I was all for because I love snowshoeing! We packed up, got ready, and went. It was a very typical Sunday morning for us. We snowshoed into a beaver pond and decided to stop and have a fire (Little did I know that this was all pre-meditated). Our dog, Tex, was with us as well. It was a perfect morning! After we had been sitting around the fire for a while, Jesse pulled out a note from his pocket and told me he had something he wanted to share and began reading this very sweet note. I didn’t click into the note at first until he got further into it and suddenly I realized OMG HE’S PROPOSING RIGHT NOW! He pulled a ring box out of his backpack and asked me to marry him. The easiest YES of my life! I am so thankful that we’re getting our happy ending.
