How We Met
” What kind of bagel makes you fly? A PLANE bagel!”
Jared messaged this joke to me the first time we talked on Match.com! It was the perfect opener to spark my interest and agree to the first date. We met in Carmel, CA at a local Irish bar where it was supposed to be karaoke night, but due to technical difficulties it ended up being canceled. In lieu of, we grabbed some pool cues and hit the table. Mind you, Jared is much better at pool and his patience with me was much appreciated. I am much better at the karaoke! Jared’s humor and conversation reeled me in that night. Jared and I have a passion for adventure and both love staying active. We love to travel and so far have been to Oregon, Washington, Canada, and Australia! Cheers to new adventures!
how they asked
February 3rd, 2018: We went out to dinner since we were hosting friends and family the next day for Super Bowl 52 and I didn’t want to cook. We had a gift card to this awesome Italian restaurant for a while and finally made the time to get out of the house. The night was so fun; just relaxing and enjoying the evening with great wine and great food. When we decided to head home, Jared suggested we stop by Boots Rd. This is a special place to us because we have gone up there previously to watch a meteor shower with some friends last year. We found this great spot looking over all Monterey County and the city lights were absolutely amazing. Normally there is a pretty thick fog that rolls through at night, so to see it this clear was just perfect. Jared had set up a playlist full of songs that we both had shared with each other over the years, all of which were country. We were talking about the view and how wonderful it was that night, when he changes the subject…
“What do you think of this song?” he asks.
” I love this song…”
” Do you remember what this song is?”
“Yes, it’s Dierks Bentley…”
“What happened during this song?”
” This was the song I told you I loved you for the first time.”
“Well, now I have a question to ask you…”
Jared proceeded to get down on his knee and ask me to marry him during the same song I told him I loved him three years before. My heart melted and I said through tears, “Of course!” I was so excited that I forgot to look at the ring and just wrapped my arms around him and cried and laughed with excitement!
