Krystie and Justin
How We Met
It all started over ten years ago when we were about 15 years old. Justin was my cousin’s best friend and we became good friends after shortly being introduced. He asked me to be his girlfriend on March 11th, 2006. We’ve grown up through our high school graduations and our college graduations together. Now, we are both in the midst of our careers supporting each other every step of the way.
We’ve dated for so long that I never really expected him to propose to me when he did and nonetheless, the way he did it. It was truly amazing and most definitely took me by surprise in the greatest ways possible.
We’ve been through so much together, I honestly could not imagine life without him.
how they asked
His birthday is January 23rd and he told me that his family was planning a birthday brunch on Sunday, January 24th, 2016 for him, his dad, and his aunt, whose birthdays ran all within the same week. Well, the night before here on Long Island, NY, it snowed about 4 feet of snow. In hopes of his mother canceling the brunch, I thought I could sleep in and help my family shovel our sidewalk and driveway in the later part of the morning. I received a phone call early that Sunday morning from Justin that his mother was not canceling brunch and I was very upset and truly annoyed. I got up as soon as I could and began to shovel and work outside. The snow was heavy and there was lots of it. I kept complaining to my parents and sister about how crazy I thought the idea of going to brunch would be but I kept going. After shoveling the snow, I got another phone call from Justin saying that “we couldn’t be late,” so I got ready as quick as I could.
My parents and my sister were on their way out of the house, as well. My parents told me they were headed to my grandmothers to help her shovel and my sister would be at the movies with her friends. At the time, I didn’t think any of this was strange because I was just so annoyed and frazzled with getting ready in time to go to brunch after a HUGE snow storm.
Justin and I finally arrived to find that we were the first ones to brunch and everyone else was late. So we sat off to the side by the fireplace and while we were speaking to each other, a caricature artist approaches us. He simply asked us if he could use us as a warm up picture because the place was so empty that morning. I figured since we were the only ones on time for brunch, why not kill time, Justin being Justin said, “sure, as long as it’s free.” I was so embarrassed but the artist figured out Justin’s humor. He also explained to us that he had someone to recording him in action for his website. And the rest was simply history.
I never imagined it to be then and there and to top it all off, our families came from behind the wall as another HUGE surprise. The day honestly couldn’t be any more PERFECT than it was.
