Engagement Proposal Ideas in Wheaton Academy

How We Met

Derek and I met my when I was a junior in high school and he was a senior. One day during our lunch hour, he sat next to a mutual friend of ours at my table and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him! I got butterflies and decided I needed to get his number. Later that week, we began talking to one another and didn’t stop all night or for the rest of the weeks to come for that matter! We ended up going to prom together and started dating shortly after. After Derek graduated, he went to a university in Iowa. When I graduated from school high school, I made the decision to go to that same school because I couldn’t seem to picture my life without him. We stayed together all throughout college! Once he graduated, (which was one year before me), he moved to central Illinois for a new job. I wasn’t done with school year but we decided the minute I was done with school, I would move there alongside him. I moved in with Derek in 2017 and we have been living together for 1 year. On July 7th, 2018, Derek asked me to marry him and I said YES! After almost 7 years together, Derek and I are finally engaged!

how they asked

On Saturday, July 7th, Derek told me he need to go back to our high school to help with his baseball team, but he told me to come pick him up at 6pm so we could go to dinner for his birthday. Thinking nothing of it, I headed over to school to go get him. All of sudden, I pulled up to the parking lot and saw Derek standing next to the pergola and water fountain with a rose petal pathway and a wooden sign that read “Marry Me”. Through the tears in my eyes, I saw that he had invited our parents to be a part of this moment with us. He got down on one knee, was bawling and said, “I really don’t even know what to say besides I love you so much. Will you marry me?” Of course, I said YES and shot up to give him a hug and kiss. It was the most beautiful and sentimental setting, as this is where our whole relationship started.
