how we met
Mitch and I met in September of 2015, through a mutual friend. He was having a pool party and my girlfriend, who went to college with him, said we should swing by. I hadn’t paid much attention to him at the party but later that evening, he asked me out to dinner. I was actually in a relationship at the time so I declined and we parted ways. A few months later (I was no longer in that relationship), we saw each other again at a nightclub, and he asked me out again. Although I still said no, I texted him a few weeks later saying I was finally ready to go out to dinner.
how they asked
It was a total surprise! He proposed on December 24th, 2017. We had just gotten back from a trip to Mexico the evening before and it was 8am on Christmas eve. He woke me up by lying on top of me and said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I had no idea what was going on and, still half asleep, I opened my eyes and there was the most perfect ring in front of me. He popped the question and, still half asleep and VERY confused, I said yes! It was perfect… I never wanted a big proposal and doing it alone, in our home, after a relaxing vacation together, was the best way to do it. Family is very important to us, so being able to share the news with our families on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was so much fun! We told my family by pretending I had brought back gifts from our trip for my 3 nieces. Everyone was together when I took out 3 small babies breath bouquets for my 3 nieces and asked them if they’d be our flower girls. There was a split second of confusion on my family’s faces before they realized what was happening! It was so special and exciting!
