How We Met
We met 9 years ago in Iowa at St. Ambrose University as a freshman. We were both seeing other people at the time but had a great friendship and connection. Shortly after that fall, we both independently split with our exes and by the following spring, we were together nearly every day. By mid-summer 2010, we were officially dating and haven’t stopped since. We have spent almost 8 years together, and have definitely had a challenge or two (long distance for a year) and deciding where to settle together. But it has made us that much more in love now.
We have more fun and laugh louder now than I could have ever imagined. Sam is my absolute best friend and adventure buddy. We currently live and adventure in Colorado together and life is great.
I cannot wait to officially become part of his family and to continue living this fairytale life with him.

I had the amazing opportunity to surprise Sam with a weekend getaway at a secluded cabin in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I knew that he had no clue where we were going, staying, or what we were doing as I had planned everything in secret. It was a beautiful drive up, and he sooner realized the adventure we were going on and got really excited.
We got to town and checked into our Airbnb. We then took a walk because the backyard had an amazing view. He was a bit nervous but I had no idea what was about to happen. I walked with him, and he just said: “I was going to wait until later, but I can’t”! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked and surprised because on a surprise trip for him he was able to pull one over on me!
It was so romantic and special because it was just the two of us, in love and on cloud 9 in the mountains. I would not have wanted it any other way. We then got to celebrate the rest of the weekend, just the two of us.
