How We Met
Michael and I met in 2003 – our freshman year of high school. Our first date of the winter carnival dance and he asked me to go with him. We started dating from there and dated for about 2 years. We broke up as most high schoolers do. We went on to date other people and I went off to college while he continued to build his business/empire. We reconnected when I was almost done with college and we became good friends, but I was with someone else and so was he at the time. When I graduated college, my relationship ended and that’s when Michael swooped on in. He invited me to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert and we had a blast. Then, on New Year’s Eve 2013, he randomly grabbed and kissed me at midnight! At first I was shocked, but then I thought, “that felt right”, and we’ve been inseparable ever since! I’m a full believer in that timing is everything and the timing was definitely right that night. After we started dating, Michael had informed me that he never stopped loving me since high school and I realized he had spent 8 long years waiting for me. Now that is love!!
how they asked
Michael owns a staging, lighting, and sound business and he was producing the concert for country music artists, Joe Diffie and David Nail. I knew he would be busy, but I always attend his shows to support him. I’m usually prepared to feel like the groupie because I just stand around and watch – HA! I was at front of house before Joe Diffie was almost off the stage and done with his set when Michael came up and asked that I come stand by his grandparents because they would be leaving soon. His grandparents were next to the stage. Joe Diffie was now done and Michael and his crew were on the stage changing over to prepare for David Nail to come on. All of a sudden, I heard my name being called through the microphone and then I was being asked to come on stage. I was a little confused and then went I go to the stage, the emcee grabbed me and pulled me up there.
That’s when Michael shared a short story about how he made the investment in the roof for his staging system and jokingly said that means I would get a ring. He then got down on one knee and proposed. I was so excited I was shaking. I couldn’t believe it was happening!
