Kristen and Hiep
How We Met
A few short years ago, I was just happy to be sharing my sisters special day with her. I had no idea that as I was casually dancing with one of the groomsmen, that I was in the arms of my future husband. After the wedding, we became inseparable. It didn’t take long for me to realize how amazing and unique our relationship was. I knew early on that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
how they asked
For our anniversary, we decide to plan a trip to Disney World with our siblings. Hiep had never been and I was excited to share one of my favorite places in the world with him. While in Magic Kingdom, we were walking past the front of Cinderella’s castle on our way to purchase mouse ears to wear for the rest of the day. We passed by an empty area right in front of the castle that was perfect for pictures. We decided to stop and take a few before moving on.
Hiep and I have talked a lot about marriage and engagement in the recent 6 months or so, and it was not uncommon for him to bring up the topic of proposing when he were in a fun or romantic location. Because of this, I did not find it odd when he jokingly said that he could go buy me a fake ring and propose right there if I would like. I laughed it off like always and promised him that I would wait for a real one at the right time.
That’s when he pulled a box out of his pocket and said, “How about this one?” as he got down on one knee. Words cannot describe how ecstatic I was. I have been dreaming about this day since the moment that I realized he was the one. I was so happy that it was finally here and that we were able to share it with some of our family in such a magical place. As he said “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I was already in tears. I could barely say the word “yes” and he slipped the ring onto the finger of my shaking hands and stood up to kiss me, as people clapped and cheered around us.
