How We Met

My partner and I met through his sister and at our church. We knew of each other since I came to Australia, but officially we only met when I was 16 and he was 15.

How They Asked

After a long process of building our first home during the 2020 pandemic, my partner and I finally got the keys to our home on the 30th of July 2021. Hours later on the same day, he took me to Costco to grab some groceries, which turns out, was his way of getting me out of the house so his family could set up a romantic candle-lit proposal for us. When we arrived, his brother pretended that he had a surprise housewarming gift waiting for us so we had to wear blindfolds.

Turns out, my partner actually didn’t wear the blindfold and he then held my hand while his brother led us to the set-up. When I took my blindfold off, my partner was in front of me amongst the twinkling lights and scattered rose petals shaped in a love heart. As I was too shocked with all the events happening, he took my hand and handed me a bouquet of long-stemmed red roses, and proceeded to get down on one knee to pop the big question. As he reveals the beautiful ring and I give my big ‘YES’ to him, his family cheered with excitement, a fitting start to the new chapter in our 9-year partnership.
