How We Met
I met Anthony when 5 years ago. We were both going to St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue on Long Island, and we were both psychology majors. We met when we both started tutoring at the Academic Center there. We were both in relationships at the time we met, but we became pretty fast friends. Soon, he was my best friend. We spoke everyday and spent our free time at work together. Through the years, we became the best of friends. Leaning on each other and being there for each other through bad breakups, school woes, and things in both of our personal lives that were difficult. We found such an amazing friendship in one another that has grown so beautifully over the past 5 years. About a year ago, Anthony finally thought it was time for us to take that step. He told me how he felt (I had felt the same way for quite some time before then), we went on our first date, and the rest they say, is history. While it was a messy and long road getting to our first date, I wouldn’t trade our story and the relationship we have built over the past 5 years.
how they asked
It was March 17, 2017. My sisters, my mom, and I had gone to the movies earlier that day. I had been bugging Anthony for weeks about when he was going to ask me, but after a while, I just gave up. I knew he would never tell me. After the movie, my younger sister told me she needed to go to St. Joseph’s– she currently goes there– to pick up something she forgot. So, I went with her. She asked me to come in with her, and I did. We went upstairs to the Academic Center, and I was greeted by rose petals and my very best friend in the world. My heart stopped. I was left speechless by this wonderful man who had brought me back to where we first met. A place where fate brought us together.
A place where we had so many wonderful conversations, shared so many personal things to one another, and became best friends. It was incredible to sit in front of him and have such wonderful memories of us flood my mind. When we both composed ourselves, Anthony got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was elated. It was the absolute best day of my life.
