How We Met

Korie and I met at Maranantha Bible Camp when we were 13 years old. I remember getting out of the van and there sitting on a log in the grass was the most beautiful girl I had seen in my whole 13 years of living, my future wife. Unfortunately, my puppy love was a one sided deal at the time and I was placed in the friend zone. For the next 10 years Korie and I remained friends and talked off and on throughout the years. I would check in on her when I hadn’t heard from her for a while to make sure she was doing well. Despite my persistence we never grew more than friends and I was okay with it. Just having her in my life was always good enough for me. Fortunately dreams come true sometimes, and summer of 2015 we started to talk more than we ever had. Korie, who was now a package deal lived in Texas, and I was in Missouri, but we made our friendship grow with nightly Skype sessions, constant phone calls and monthly

trips to visit one another. We become official September 24 when I asked Korie to be my girlfriend. Although I have always had strong feelings towards Korie, we soon realized we were crazy in love and we didn’t want to have to live without one another. I could no longer see my life without Korie or her children. I loved all 3 of them more than I had loved anything in my whole life.

how they asked

We were always on a different crazy adventure exploring the world but Spring Break 2016 in the Dominican Republic would top them all! On March 16th we woke up at 6:30AM to eat breakfast and beat the crowds that filled El Limon by noon, the waterfall we had both been wanting to explore. We rode horseback through a small village and up the mountain and were in awe of this beautiful country. Once we arrived at the destination we hiked the rest of the way to the waterfall. Korie and I were both in amazement.

We explored, talked, and just enjoyed each other as we took in all the beauty around us. Right before we left Korie had wanted a picture of us in front of the waterfall so I asked the tour guide to take our photo and that is when I asked Korie if she knew that I loved her more than life and told her I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and asked her to be my wife. With a look of confusement mixed with utter shock and complete happiness she made me the happiest man by saying yes!
