How We Met
It started when we met at a Halloween party about four years ago. His mother was shocked when I told her that he came up and introduced himself because girls always approached him first. It’s in Dane’s character to be a little shy when he meets someone, so it wasn’t a surprise that girls always chose him. But she thinks that was the moment that he chose me. Funny enough, we also found out that we lived on the same street. Talk about fate!
How They Asked
Shortly after we met, Dane and his family went on a trip they take every few years to Maui. They stayed at the Kaanapali villas, and while he was there, he sent me a photo of a plumeria, giving me a virtual flower. It was so cheesy and cute and sweet at the same time. At the time, I was in Puerto Rico and we basically texted nonstop despite being on opposite ends of the country.
We found odd hours to talk to each other… being in different time zones. Fast forward, three years later, his family went on that same trip to Maui. Only this time they brought me. We stayed at the Kaanapali villas and the first thing Dane did was take my hand and show me the place where he took the picture of the plumeria.
The next day, before we went to dinner, he got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of his family. I get goosebumps just writing about it because it was the best day of my life. Everything had truly come full circle for us and it could not feel more meant to be. God has a beautiful way of doing that.
