how we met
My fiancé , Mehul and I met at Regional Hospital in Scranton, PA. He was a second year resident and I was a registered nurse. He tried to get my attention a few times, but I was so busy that I didn’t notice him. Then one day he was charting in the doctors’ lounge while I was waiting for my shift to end. We started chatting about school, work and life. Soon after that, we had our first date in Scranton! We enjoyed each other’s company and hung out very often and slowly began to fall in love!
A few months after dating, we visited San Diego for vacation. La Jolla is where Mehul told me he loved me for the very first time.
how they asked
On March 5, 2016, Mehul told me that his friend was having an engagement party in La Jolla. I came to realize later that this was just an excuse to get me to La Jolla. Moments before the “party” we reminisced about the time we first expressed our love. This was just before he was going to propose. He was acting a little strange the whole day, but I didn’t think twice about anything. Then he said he had to use the bathroom (port a potty ) I asked if he can wait until we got to the party and he said he could not! He used going to the bathroom as an excuse to get miked up.
Upon coming out of the bathroom, a man comes up to us and starts singing Beyoncé XO, which is our song and has a lot of meaning to us. He walked towards the man so I followed! Mehul has done countless romantic things for me in the past so I thought this was one of the sweet things he was doing before we went to the engagement party. Slowly more singers joined and more flowers added up. I started to think something bigger than a small romantic gesture was about to happen.
I realized when I saw the picnic area with our pictures, a dozen roses and pillows! I was in complete awe, I was blown away! This whole proposal was very touching and personal to me. He had the band sing one of our songs and he proposed at a location where we began our love story! I could not have asked for a better proposal even in my dreams! My fiancé is such a thoughtful and romantic man!
