How We Met (As told by their photographer!): Kenny and Geena met for the first time as high school freshmen in speech class at the ages of sixteen. The first flower that Kenny ever bought for Geena was a yellow carnation signifying friendship. For their first date, Geena asked Kenny to the Sadie Hawkin’s Dance where they shared their first dance to Savage Garden’s “I Knew I Loved You.” They graduated high school and went to college together at the University of California, Berkeley where they rode bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge and raised a stray orange cat named Scribble. Following college, they kept a long distance relationship from San Diego and New York and spent their limited time together experiencing the beaches of La Jolla Cove and Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
how they asked (Geena’s side!): The proposal came as a bit of a surprise. I had given Kenny a window but did not know where, when, or how it was going to happen. It was a Saturday late morning. I had just woken up after sleeping in and went to take a shower, nothing special there. When I got out of the shower, wrapped in a towel with dripping hair, I stepped outside the bathroom to see Scribble, who not unusually was waiting for me outside the door. What was unusual was that he was wearing a pink collar (Scribble prefers to be in the nude). Curiosity piqued, I picked him up and noticed something shiny on said collar which turned out to be a diamond ring. By then, Kenny came up to me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so caught off guard that I was briefly speechless, although I think I said yes!!
