How We Met
We met in college at Cal State University, Northridge. We were taking a Friday afternoon film violence class, a class that nobody would want to be in. On the first day of class, we were across sitting in the hallway and we made eye contact. Both of us looked away nervously but kept looking back at each other. Once the doors to our class opened, we went to take our seats in the theater and he sat right night to me…not something that people who don’t know each other normally do. After class was over and we were walking to our cars, he turned around to talk to me and asked me what I thought about the movie we just watched, “Natural Born Killers.” I told him that it was kinda creepy and stressful. The rest is history from that moment, we spent every Friday evening talking in the parking structure for hours about everything and nothing at the same time.
how they asked
He’s been travelling a lot for work, so he thought it was a good idea to go to brunch just the two of us on Easter Sunday. I’m not the biggest buffet brunch person, so I wasn’t that interested in going but it’s what he wanted to do so I went. We got to the beach and he said we had a half hour before our reservation so we went to go walk on the beach. As we got closer to the water we took a selfie “for his mom,” which was his cue for the photographer! He then grabbed the ring from his pocket and got down on one knee. I was so shocked I thought it was a joke! It was April Fools Day after all. I kept repeating “no, no, no” because I thought it wasn’t real but he assured me it was real and he really wanted to marry me!
