How We Met
We met while in school in Boone. We began dating 2 months before John graduated college. We had a long-distance relationship for 2 years while I finished up school. We saw each other once every few months, just waiting to move closer to each other
How They Asked
John had been planning the perfect proposal at Disney for months. He hid the ring at a friend’s house and ironed out all of the details to make the proposal perfect. A few weeks before we were supposed to leave, Disney shut down due to COVID. We then planned to go on vacation to 4 other places, and while he planned a perfect proposal at each, every single vacation kept getting canceled, and hotels kept shutting down. Eventually, he decided that a group of us would go up to Boone for the day, where we first met.
We hiked one of our favorite trails, and I was so excited to be able to show our friends our favorite place. We got to the top and it was a clear blue day, you could see for miles. John asked me to look out at the mountains as he got down on one knee and completely surprised me.
Through all of the crazy planning, the proposal was perfect in every way, and we would not have had it any other way. In the meantime, we have been planning a wedding for next year, both being able to work full time through all of the craziness of COVID, and just bought a house together
