How We Met
We are both in law enforcement and met through work!
how they asked
I had asked Eric if we could attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party last year, but it did not look like it would be possible due to our schedules. At the last minute, he told me that the trip was a possibility, so we made quick plans.
On the morning of December 17th, three years since we first met, we headed south to Disney World. I was ECSTATIC. By the time we got into the Magic Kingdom, I was already emotional. I was so happy to be there, but also thankful Eric took the time and money for the trip, especially so close to Christmas. Disney World is the setting for so many of the best memories of my life, so I love sharing time there with Eric.
After walking around for a few minutes, Eric led me just off of Main Street to a bench in front of Cinderella’s Castle. I was telling him how happy he had made me by bringing me here when he set our bag down on the bench. I was a little confused as to why we were stopping instead of continuing to walk.
He began saying sweet things to me, but I thought he was merely responding to my comment. Then, he grabbed both of my hands in his, which felt completely unnatural and unlike us… This is when I knew something was different. He spoke some more and suddenly he was down on one knee in front of me.
Hysterical is an understatement at this point. I was a mess.
Eric asked me to marry him, and I said yes, through tears. I felt him slide a ring on my finger and I thought “Where did that come from? When did he get that out?”. He stood up and I hugged him for what felt like an eternity. Finally, he asked “Have you even looked at your ring?” I hadn’t. When I saw it, I began to cry even more. It was beautiful. But what it stood for was even more beautiful!
