How We Met
Shane and I met in middle school after I had the courage to put my name into his phone at his basketball game. Throughout our time in middle school and high school, he was very adamant that he wanted to date me, but I did not want a relationship to ruin the great friendship we had, so I severely friend-zoned him. We remained best friends after graduation and I was and am so thankful that we decided to stay in touch after separating to go to different colleges. That following summer when we were home from school, we reconnected and starting hanging out again! At one point we had seen each other every day for 14 days in a row, and decided to call it official before heading back to our own colleges. The rest is history! It is such an amazing feeling to be engaged to your best friend!
how they asked
Shane asked me to be his wife at the spot where we had our first official date. We are both really into hiking, biking, and love being outside so when Shane asked me if I wanted to go for a bike ride I said sure! He asked me where we should go and I suggested going to that same park as our first date since we hadn’t been there in a while. Shane and I bike rode to the bridge overlooking the spot where we ate lunch together 4 years ago. He started talking to me about the fun things we have done together, the ups and downs we have been through, and the amazing things we have planned in our lives. He got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him and all I remember is thinking “oh my god, he’s actually doing this!” Of course I said yes to my best friend since 8th grade!!!
