How We Met
Joe and I met in college at Fairfield University. We had many mutual friends. Junior year we were neighbors and began spending more time together and the rest was history!
How They Asked
January 2018 I lost my grandfather who was so much more than that title. He was more like a father since my mom was a single mom. We would talk on the phone, text (yes at 87 he texted and sent emojis all of the time) and FaceTimed almost every day. The Christmas before he passed away I split my day with my mom and grandfather in Florida and the second half in NJ with my boyfriend and his family. Little did I know while I was flying back from my visit with my grandfather, my now fiancé called him with a very important question. Fast forward to this past November we went to a local winery to celebrate my birthday. After our tasting was over we were able to go down and explore the wine cellar. Once we got downstairs to this beautiful room there was a screen on and Joe pressed play. The second I heard my grandfathers voice I was sobbing. I turned and saw a FaceTime video. Joe was speaking with my Grampa on Christmas Day. Joe was asking for his permission to make him the happiest man and marry me. He said he didn’t know when but wanted to know my grandfather approved. Little did we know we would lose him a few weeks later. Before I knew it I turned around and Joe was on one knee.
After I said yes my mom and his parents popped out from the surrounding room with champagne. It was the most perfect night especially because my grandfather was with us too.
