How We Met
Gio and I met in college our freshman spring semester at the University of Florida. We actually first met in the library! We were both engineering majors and a mutual friend brought him to a study group. We didn’t really start getting to know each other until the next fall semester.
Gio eventually joined our little study group and soon we were hanging out outside of just the library. Think late-night trips to IHOP, football games, and watching Friends in my apartment (he had never seen it before!). One day in the middle of us watching Friends, he paused the show and told me he liked me. And the rest is history!
How They Asked
Gio and I were meeting up with our best friends from college in Gainesville, Florida (we all went to UF). Every year since sophomore year of college we all go to this local fall festival and we were planning on going that weekend. So it’s Saturday, I and my friend are driving to pick up another friend at the Gainesville Regional Airport. We arrive and there is Gio, dressed in an outfit I picked out for him the week before. He leads me to the runway where a helicopter is waiting for us.
We fly in the helicopter all around the University of Florida campus. We fly over the football stadium, the library where we met, my first apartment where we had our first kiss. It was amazing. Eventually, we land at the top of a hill. At the bottom of the hill is the fall festival I mentioned earlier. He had a table set up with champagne and he asked me to marry him. It was magical.
We walked down the hill and were greeted by friends and family. Gio put so much time and effort to make this proposal so sentimental and specific to us and our relationship. It was a beautiful day.
