How We Met
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve dreamt of this day. So much so that at age 12 I wrote a letter to my future husband telling him exactly what I wanted. A letter my parents kept all these years and gave to Cole. I knew this day would involve the love of my life, Cinderella’s Castle, my family, and a little magic. I have been patient when it comes to love, because I knew that I deserved a great love, a love as great as my parents and grandparents. Cole, came into my life before I even moved to Dallas, and quickly made an impression. Falling in love with him was effortless, and he truly made this the best year and a half of my life. My heart has never felt so happy and full.
How They Asked
We did things a little backward, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I knew this proposal was coming and basically made it near impossible to surprise. On our trip to Isla Mujeres last June I fell in love with one of the resorts. I knew that’s where I wanted to get married. I kept asking Cole if I could see what dates were available, but he said no we are not even engaged yet and should wait. Even with his response, I took it upon myself to book my bachelorette party to secure the suite at my parents’ timeshare at Disney for June 2020 just in case. I joked that if he didn’t pop the question it would just be my 29th birthday party.
Fast forward to November 6th, Cole took me to our favorite restaurant and let me in on a big secret. He told me that he secured the date I wanted back in August, already got us a travel agent for our family and friends to use, spoke with our family and friends, and most of them were already booked! To say I was shocked is an understatement. I burst into tears of joy.
When I asked if my parents knew about it, he laughed and said: “yes, I flew to Detroit when you were in Malta to ask your parents for your hand in marriage, and I’ve been speaking with them regularly”. (All of this still before the proposal) He wanted to let me in on the surprise, so I could be a part of the process. He let me know that there were still many surprises to come, one being this incredible proposal.
I have been planning our wedding in November. My wedding dress was purchased in Denver with my parents and sister over Thanksgiving, bridesmaids have been asked, invitations and our website created, our photographer booked, and major planning with our wedding coordinator and travel agent. The proposal was just a minor detail. Even though we’ve done things a little backward, I wouldn’t have done it any other way.
The day after the proposal Cole outdid himself with a huge surprise, that I did not see coming!! He didn’t like the idea of me knowing everything about the proposal. A few months ago I fell in love with a home we had looked at. After we looked Cole told me we should wait until after the wedding to seriously look at the house. A few weeks later the house showed as pending online. I was devastated! Cole told me that he had a surprise up his sleeve that would blow my mind, I had so many thoughts cross through my mind of what it could be. Him buying our first home that I fell in love with a month ago and thought we lost to another buyer was not even on my radar!
