How We Met
I met Zach through mutual friends. I was a server at a local restaurant, Fresh Market, while finishing my degree at Murray State. Once I graduated I quit and started work at Commercial Bank. Zach started working at Fresh Market a month after I left (so weird that we didn’t meet then!). He started to be friends with some friends I had that still worked at Fresh Market. Soon after we met at our local bar (not the ideal place to meet your future husband 😂). He was going through a divorce at the time and I was dating a guy I had been seeing for a few months. I was fed up with the guy I had been seeing so I broke things off shortly after. As with all breakups, I thought the best solution was alcohol 🍷. I started hanging out with my friends from Fresh Market more and started going to the bar more and before I knew it Zach asked if I wanted to hang out alone 😳. Up to the point we had simply been good friends. I, of course, said yes and one thing led to another. Two years later I am still lucky enough to call him my best friend and now fiancé!
How They Asked
Zach proposed while we were on a family vacation. My family usually goes to Panama City Beach each year to ring in the New Year and to get away from the cold! Panama City Beach has a beach ball drop and beautiful fireworks after. This year when the ball dropped Zach kissed me and then said “I love you and I want to continue loving you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me Kaylyn Elizabeth Nation?” I had no idea that he was going to propose. He got on one knee with the most unique and beautiful ring. I, of course, said YES! 😊
