How We Met
During the beginning of my freshman year of college, some of my friends introduced us. We instantly became friends but didn’t speak a whole lot after the first meeting. A few months later, we reconnected and began talking at social events as friends. My cousin just so happened to be his high school theater teacher and when he found out we were friends, he told my dad “That is the type of guy you want your daughter to marry, he’s a great kid,” and I, of course, said “No, no we’re just friends!” Later that year, we went on our first date and it turns out, he is the type of guy you want your daughter to marry!
How They Asked
Back in September of this year, Blake and I, without any warning, found out we would be relocated from our hometown of Evansville, into the big city of Dallas, Texas for his job. After months of initial shock, we decided we would be moving after my graduation in May and began our search for a new home. One weekend we flew out to Dallas to “apartment hunt.” We missed our first flight to Texas and to get on another flight we had to buy new round trip tickets. I insisted we just reschedule and go home but he was adamant that we make this trip work! After finally making it to Dallas, Blake told me he had planned a nice dinner for the two of us and then took me shopping for a new outfit because I had only packed sweats and some old jeans for the trip. When we got to dinner, he said that we had arrived early so we should kill some time. He then suggested that we go for a walk on the bridge that goes just across the Dallas skyline. When we got to the middle of the bridge, Blake nervously stopped and told me how much he loved me and then got down on one knee and proposed.
I was in total shock! After the proposal he walked me over to the restaurant where he surprised me again… he had flown our parents in all the way from Indiana for the special occasion! He could not have made our engagement a more special and thoughtful occasion!
