How We Met
Trey and I first met the summer before our junior year at Texas State University. We had many mutual friends, but for some reason had never met before. One day, Trey showed up at my apartment with one of our friends. They had stopped by to ask my roommates and I to come to a party that night. After that, unbeknownst to the each other, we both made it a point to go anywhere we thought the other might be. As fate would have it, after graduation, we both landed jobs in San Antonio.
how they asked
After living together in San Antonio for about a year and a half, Trey and I decided to build a house together. I am a teacher and was on spring break, when one of our friends came in for a Rangers baseball game. The next morning, we were going to take everyone to see the progress on our house, and then brunch. We woke up and headed to the house. The entire time I kept asking about brunch, but Trey insisted that we go the house first. When we got there, Trey called me over to the furthest corner of our house. Our house is at the top of a hill and he told me he wanted me to see the view. Trey put his arm around me, and we stood there staring at our future home. I felt Trey back up, and when I turned around he was on one knee! He said “I can’t speak, I love you. Will you marry me?”, and of course I said “YES!”. Trey is never nervous, so I was surprised to see him speechless.
After that, Trey told me that I needed to go home and pack; we were headed for Houston to our engagement party! When we got there all of our closest friends were there to help us celebrate. It was truly so special and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
