How We Met
During my sophomore year at Troy Univeristy I got a job at a local barbecue restaurant. On my lunch break one day, a coworker asked if he could sit with me. We had the basic first meeting conversation, “So what’s your major?”, “Where are you from?”, and so on. I didn’t think too much about it really, and I went on with my life. A few nights later a coworker of ours was having a party and we both happened to be there. We talked all night and really hit it off. The next night we drove an hour away to a bigger city and went on our first real date. Everything was going really well between us, until I moved home less than a month later because school was out for the summer. I thought that with the relationship being so new and with the distance between us, it would surely fizzle out and we would go our separate ways. Little did I know how many trips we would both make that summer to see each other. It seemed as though we were hardly ever apart. Once I moved back to Troy after the summer was over, we were inseparable and have been ever since.
how they asked
Atlanta, GA is both of our favorite city, so when he asked if I wanted to go on a day trip I eagerly said of course. I wasn’t given many details on what we would be doing. I was told only that it was an adventure that we had both never done before and that it would include lunch at a nice restaurant. He helped me pick out a fitting outfit, and we were off. Once we made it to Atlanta, the first stop on our trip was at an airport. Upon arriving, we hopped on a helicopter and embarked on a private tour of the city. We both love to fly, so this was so us. I thought that this was the highlight of our trip because how could that possibly be topped. Next, we headed on to our lunch reservation. On the way I was told that we were going to a restaurant that was located at the top of a hotel. When we arrived to the hotel, we valeted the car and rode an elevator up to the top. After getting off of the elevator, I began to be confused. I was way overdressed for the “restaurant” which appeared to be more of a rooftop venue and then I quickly realized that we were the only ones there.
He took my hand and led me to the edge where the view of the city below was the best. There, he got done on one knee and asked me to be his forever. In awe of the moment, I didn’t even hear the photographer taking pictures or the popping of champagne in the background. I was so captivated and in love with this man who had done so much to make this day special for me. After all of the excitement, I was ready to head to my parents’ house to share the good news. On the way, he said that he had a headache and wanted to stop by my house to grab some medicine before we went on to my parent’s. I decided to go inside to change into something more comfortable when I was met by a loud “SURPRISE!” He had thrown me an engagement party with both of our families and my best friend who lives three hours away. I was so overjoyed to be able to share such a special moment with all of them, and I felt so loved by my fiancé who knew that I would want to celebrate the best moment of my life with all of them.
