How We Met
Matthew and I have been together for four years and met when I was in college working at a local coffee shop and he was (and currently is) working as a police officer who didn’t care much for coffee, but made a lot of trips to the coffee shop ;) having had a crush on each other from the first time we met, it wasn’t until over a year later that we finally admitted our feelings and became inseparable. We’ve spent the last 4 years building a life together & traveling the world with lots of destinations still to go.
How They Asked
For the last three years, we had been dying to see the magical Enchant Christmas show. This year it finally came to Seattle which was a manageable drive from Portland. We decided to make a romantic trip out of it before the hectic holiday season set in.
Matthew had been secretly planning on an NYE proposal but found out last minute he could not get the time off of work. He rush-ordered the ring from out of state and it arrived just one hour before we were supposed to leave Portland for our3.5-hour drive up north (he told me he had a last minute work issue come up).
Having absolutely no idea the whole evening, we had a great time looking at all the light displays and taking photos. At the very end of the night, some girls asked us to take their photo and we were happy to help. They asked if we wanted one as well and we agreed the lighted heart arch was a cute photo op.
With the random lovely ladies taking our photos, he said “hold on, take one more for me” and pulled out the ring! I was so floored I completely blacked out and almost cried my lashes off LOL. The ladies were so great and not only got lots of photos but a video of almost the whole thing! It was a truly magical surprise that we’ll never forget. We spent the rest of the night starry eyed and relishing in the perfect surprise that even I (who’d spent years thinking up my dream proposal) could not have topped.
