How We Met
Tyler and I met through Hinge. Yup, the app meant to be deleted and it sure did get deleted fast! We met at a bar that was right across the street from where my brother lived. I was always nervous meeting people online, so knowing I could always call on him across the street to come save me made me feel a bit better. Well, luckily I didn’t need him because immediately when I met Tyler, all my nerves went away. We talked at the bar for hours and played pool and jenga out on the patio. The jenga tower was so high that each of us took a photo of each other with it on our date. I remember going to the bathroom at one point and texting my sister a photo of him and I told her that I immediately felt a connection with him. It turned out he did as well because during our first date, he invited me to dinner the very next night! For our second date, we went to dinner, walked around in Old Town Scottsdale, went off to bowl at Main Event and then went back to his house to watch a movie. Ironically, we didn’t watch a movie at all – we just talked with each other all night, never running out of things to talk about! I was shocked because the next thing I knew, it was 5:30 in the morning! Little did I know, these two dates were just the beginning!
Only 3 weeks later, we joined each other’s families for Thanksgiving, spent my May birthday in Minnesota where I met all of his friends and less than a year after we met, we moved into an apartment together and immediately got a puppy.
How They Asked
When 2020 happened, it didn’t have much of an effect on us, but it did definitely bring some exciting things our way! With all the free time I had from being furloughed in April, Tyler and I looked into buying a home. I was able to look at multiple homes every day with our realtor and in just 2 weeks, we put an offer on our first home. A month later, on my birthday we closed on that house! With a dog and a home together, I had a gut feeling a ring was on its way. We had a trip to Switzerland planned for August and I thought that would be the place he popped the question, but with everything going on, we chose to cancel the trip. In June, Tyler took me to look at rings where he told me to pick out the exact ring I wanted. Tyler then put a deposit on the ring right then and there – which made my neeves go up to high alert as I had no idea when he would be proposing! In July, I came home from work to find Tyler on his knee with our dog next to him – a ring box tied around the dog’s neck and rose petals scattered all over the ground. While it wasn’t in Switzerland under a waterfall as I imagined, it was still perfect. Now we are planning our wedding for June of 2021 and we are coming up on our 2 year anniversary next month. While it hasn’t been long, everything just felt right from the beginning and felt easy around him and I couldn’t be happier!
