Katrina and Lucas
How We Met
It was a typical Saturday night out at the bar with our soccer friends. We both played soccer for Barry University and Las Olas was a typical weekend night out for both of our teams. We had seen each other so many times; on the field, in the cafeteria, in the training room, passing by to class. But this time was different. We locked eyes and it all changed from there. Over the next year we became the greatest of friends. We were inseparable.
how they asked
Lucas had been bugging me for us to go visit my family in California for months. Our work schedules finally played out and we booked our trip. He somehow snuck in two days before me to ask my family for their blessing. From the second I landed, Lucas had our day planned. Lucas surprised me with a trip to Catalina Island where he had a day of adventures planned. We were greeted with rain as soon as we docked at the island but that didn’t stop us. He rented a golf cart for us to tour the island and the sun came out too. We went to some amazing look out spots over the ocean, bay, and city. The quietness and beauty was breath taking. At the last lookout, Lucas convinced me to scale past the “do not enter” sign. Here is where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. During the initial shock and excitement I heard the shuttering of a camera lens and Lucas tells me he hired a photographer to capture our moment. (But that special picture is ours to keep sacred and we will share the rest.) We spent the night on the island celebrating this amazing commitment to each other.
