How We Met
A coworker of mine came into work one day after a Labor Day cookout with her family. Her and I always swapped good and horrible dating stories – but this day, instead of story telling, she said “Katie, I want to set you up with my cousin. I think you’d be great together!” After Facebook messages and texts with Kris, we decided to meet for a first date the following Friday at Average Joe’s. We immediately connected, I remember feeling this feeling I had not felt in a long time – and surprised at how immediate it happened. Even though we lived an hour a part in the beginning, every second we had to spend together, we did. It felt natural, and still does! I wouldn’t want to walk this planet with anyone else.
how they asked
One common interest that Kris and I immediately had since we met was our love for the beach. In August, we were on our second beach trip together – drove 10 hours down to Myrtle Beach with our two friends who recently got engaged. We were going to meet up with a friend of mine who lived in North Carolina who also recently got engaged, so I made the comment that Kris and I would be the only “non-engaged” couple hanging out. Little did I know… So the first day we were there, we spent all day on the beach, playing the waves and laying in the sun. Later that evening we went to Pier 14 restaurant – while waiting for our table all four of us walked out onto the pier. Kris wrapped his arms around me and started saying the sweetest things, and the next thing I know I turned around to him down on one knee. I was really surprised, and extremely happy!
