How We Met
My cousin introduced Jon and I; they were on the same adult softball team at the time. They had grown up together in Sacramento, went to the same grammar school and high school, my uncle was his little league coach.
We hit it off instantly, and he swept me off my feet. Our first date was a weekend away on California’s coast to Bodega Bay; we drank rose and ate oysters at Hog Island. It felt like we had known each other our entire lives.
How They Asked
He tricked me into a weekend away to Carmel-by-the-sea-under the guise that he had to be there for work on Monday. Carmel is one of our favorite places, and who says no to Carmel? We drove down the coast, taking in all the beach towns along the way.
Sunday, we woke up and did our favorite walk down the beach. Somewhere along the stroll, I turned thinking I lost Jon, but he was behind me, trembling on one knee, asking me to marry him.
He had hired a photographer on the beach to capture the whole thing, followed by an impromptu photoshoot. I was shocked and unprepared in my workout clothes (thinking he was going to propose at the end of the month), but it was perfect!
After we called our families, we spent the day celebrating at Pebble Beach’s 18th hole eating and drinking champagne.
