How We Met
Jeff and I met at the grocery store I worked part time at in the small town we were both raised in. He would come to buy his groceries and always came through my till without saying more than hi and bye. Finally one night he worked up the courage to introduce himself and we exchanged numbers. I was young and not interested in having a boyfriend, so we started out as friends getting to know each other. Over the course of three years, Jeff tried to take me out on several dates with no success. He even sent flowers and a teddy bear to my house in an attempt to win me over. Finally I decided to take him up on his offer and we went out on a date. From then on we were inseparable. If I knew then what I know now, I would have accepted the very first date request, because he is undoubtedly the love of my life.
how they asked
Jeff and I were both raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada that happens to be home to the longest fresh water beach in the world (Wasaga Beach). Naturally, we are both huge beach goers and have spent every summer of our four year relationship worshipping on the sun and splashing in the water. To us, any beach feels like “home”. Because of our long and cold winters in Canada, we jet off to a warm part of the world for one week around Christmas every year to thaw out and relax. This Christmas we chose to head to Santa Maria, Cuba for a week of fun in the sun. We take sunset beach photos on every trip we go on, so when Jeff asked me to go take photos with another couple one evening, I did not think anything of it. After posing for a few photos, I went to walk away to switch with the other couple when Jeff tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and he was down on one knee. He spoke the sweetest words and then asked that question every girl wants to hear “will you marry me?” I first responded with “is this real life?” and then snapped back into reality and said “yes!” It was the most romantic and special moment in our relationship and for a second, the world stopped and it was just him and I. Luckily for me, he had planned to have the entire thing photographed by our friends, so I now have memories to last a lifetime. I couldn’t be happier or more proud to become Jeff’s wife, and we look forward to planning our wedding and celebrating our love with family and friends.
