How We Met
Corey and I have been dating for over two years. We met just before he went to Oxford to teach for two months in 2019 and we then proceeded to get to know each other over FaceTime. We met in Santa Barbara when he came back and the rest is history!
How They Asked
We have been trying to plan a trip to Italy since January 2020–we all know what happened then. We rescheduled our trip 3 times before finally making it to Italy this month. I’ve never been to Italy, so we started out in Rome and then went on to the beautiful island of Capri. We sailed from Capri to Positano, which is about a 45 min trip. Corey told me on the way over that he booked a private sunset cruise for our first night in Positano. It was strange that he kept telling me that I should wear my best outfit for the boat ride! The boat picked us up at 6 PM with a crew of two.
Prosecco was ready for us as we boarded. As we were leaving the Positano dock, Corey asked if I wanted to go to the bow of the boat to drink our Prosecco and nibble on our appetizers. He took my hand and led me to the very front of the boat. The water was extremely choppy and we had a hard time making it. Once we were there, he got down on one knee and started to propose. But he saw I was having difficulty standing and hurried his speech up by asking the question–which I of course said yes to!
He placed the beautiful ring on my finger, we kissed and I heard the boat horn blow. I looked back and noticed the two crew members turned into one! The second crew member was really a photographer! @thekomans captured the moment in a beautiful way. We then departed the boat for a photoshoot in Positano.
It was incredible. @thekomans did such a great job capturing the experience and the spirit of Positano. As a wedding planner, I’ve seen and heard about many great proposals and hoped my moment would live up to what I’ve heard about before. Not only did Corey’s proposal live up to my dreams, but far surpassed anything I could have imagined.
