Kathleen and Nicholas
How We Met
Nick and I met through mutual friends when we were 17/18 years old and have dedicated almost a decade to each other in our relationship.
Together, we have grown, sacrificed, learned many lessons, weathered a long distance relationship and have witnessed many beautiful births and unfortunately some tragic losses. In the end, all these life events has helped develop a strong foundation for our love.
We are so excited and so blessed to be adding another chapter to our story and can not wait to see what the future holds!
how they asked
We had planned a trip to Orlando, FL to visit Disney World and Universal Studios–Yes, we are kids at hearts!–early in 2015. The trip was being reconsidered after the recent tragic loss of my father, but together, we decided, that my father would of wanted nothing more than for us to still go. Plus, a trip to the most happiest place of all was definitely needed now more than ever. Weeks before we were scheduled to leave, my father was constantly calling me and asking for the exact date of our trip. I remember telling Nick that I found it so strange that he called so much, but figured it was just my dad being excited for us.
Before our trip, my birthday had passed and given the circumstances, I was not up for much celebrating. As we were in Florida, Nick told me he planned a surprise in honor of my birthday. Truthfully, I was already so happy because he agreed to rent bikes and ride them a couple of times around the resort–it’s the little things!– but I was excited to know what else was involved.
We had a beautiful dinner at the Contemporary resort followed by a nice walk out by the Marina. I remember to this day, that honestly the best weather from our entire 10 day trip was that exact night. The sky looked like cotton candy. There, he told me that he rented a boat, just for us,to privately view the fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom on the water. Obviously, I was in shock that he planned such a big surprise, but not as much when he dropped to his knee to propose during the finale part of the show.
I could not have imagined a better way to be asked to be his wife. This was perfect and I know my dad is so happy and so proud.
