Katherine and Gregory
How We Met
Gregory and I met at the gym. I was a personal trainer there and he worked out after work every day with his buddies. We would say hi occasionally, and one day we struck up a longer conversation and exchanged numbers. Before I knew it he was interrupting one of my training session to ask me out on a date “to go see Batman”. That’s when he started to sweep me off my feet. He set up lunch, a movie, dinner, and then a local concert for the evening, but we talked so much at dinner that we never made it to the music. He knew I’d been looking forward to dancing at the concert, so he played some music on his phone and danced with me right where we were. For the first time all evening he kissed me, and by the end of the night I was head over heels for the guy! Over the next two and a half years he never stopped surprising me with fun and exciting times together! He is truly the person that I can go on every adventure with.
Our first time hunting together. This quickly became one of our favorite times together.

how they asked
Ever since I was a child State & National Parks are places I’ve loved! Gregory, knowing this, helped me plan a trip to Zion National Park – one of the parks I wanted to visit the absolute most! We flew in to Las Vegas and drove to St. George, Utah where we had rented a condo for the week.
On our first day, we drove into the park to do the hike that we had read nothing but amazing things about, Angel’s Landing. It isn’t until the top of this hike that you truly grasp the meaning of it’s name. It’s both extremely beautiful and terrifying. (Definitely one of the most strenuous hikes we’ve done.) You have to hold a chain on the last portion because it’s so steep.
Once we reached the top Gregory asked a fellow hiker to take our picture. I stood there smiling ready for him to take it, until Gregory started telling me how beautiful this place was and how it reminded him of our relationship. He dropped to one knee right there and asked me to be his wife. I couldn’t believe that I was going to marry the man of my dreams and I was in such an extraordinary place. I immediately started crying and said yes!
Apparently Gregory had whispered to the hiker “I’m about to propose to this lady – will you take pictures?” That man captured the whole thing!
We spent the rest of our trip on an engagement high! We did other hikes in the park, played golf at one of the best courses in Utah, and got couples massages. We celebrated with dinner in Las Vegas and Gregory even surprised me with Britney Spears concert tickets. I cannot imagine a better proposal, and I’m so lucky this was mine! Not only did he make all of my dreams come true, but we got to hang out together and in our own little world for a whole week after his proposal.
This also began our new tradition: Visit a new National Park every year!
