Katelynn and Tony
How We Met
Our first date was March 23, 2016 at the Village in Meridian. This was our first time meeting in person after being introduced by mutual friends and texting for a couple weeks. We had an ice cream and went to a movie. After the movie, we visited for another hour and a half, talking about our families and our future career plans. The conversation came so easily, it was like catching up with an old friend. Our connection was unexplainable, and Tony says he knew that day that we would one day get married.
how they asked
The truth is… I knew it was coming. We had picked the ring out together, 3 months earlier, while in Washington for his cousin’s wedding. I just didn’t realize he would ask on September 25th. The night before I was suppose to drive to Twin Falls for the day, Tony said his cousin, Angie, asked if she could take some pictures of us for her photography website. He said we didn’t have to, but it might be nice to have some pictures of the two of us. I agreed. Then Tony became very insistent about what I should wear, how I should do my hair, and that I needed to paint my nails. I was not easily convinced because the dress he picked would be too cold, and I was too tired to paint my nails. Tony texted Danielle, my roommate, and had her convince me to wear the dress and paint my nails anyway. In fact, she painted them as I laid in bed half asleep. I was a little suspicious that he could be planning to propose, but I didn’t want to get my hopes too high. The next day, Danielle and I drove to Twin Falls. We went to church, ate lunch, and then headed out to take pictures. Angie took pictures of her brother and his girlfriend first, then it was our turn. We took a few pictures before I noticed that Jeremy, Tony’s cousin, was videoing us. When I asked about it, Angie said that he was just practicing for when he helped her video weddings. I let it go, until we started taking pictures with Tony on his knee. When Angie told me to pose in front of Tony, who was still on one knee, my heart started to beat a little faster. So many thoughts were racing through my mind: “This would be a perfect proposal. No, he wouldn’t do it now. He said he wanted to wait longer. Don’t get too excited. But he might.” Suddenly, I felt everyone move in a little closer, all eyes on me. But when Angie told me to turn around, Tony was all I could see. He was there on one knee holding the ring we had picked out together. As I walked toward him, I asked if this was really happening. He smiled and said, “Katelynn, I know you have been waiting a long time for this. I thought since we are going to start our lives here in Twin Falls, it would be perfect to have our first memory here. I love you. Will you marry me?” My hand was trembling as I said yes. He placed the ring on my finger, and I kissed the man I had just promised forever to.
