How We Met
Sean and I met my Junior year in college at a bar. We were both pretty shy but talked the entire night and as we were leaving, he said “Hey, follow me on twitter.” [how romantic, I know…] Well, I found him on Twitter and was astound. This guy had over 150,000 followers so immediately I’m thinking “who is this guy?!” Long story short after our first date over Mexican food [my favorite!], he was just really into computers and bought a bunch of fake followers. After the first date, he gave me a hug and a kiss on the forehead and said we would talk really soon. Soon in guy language can mean SO many things. Will he call me? Will he wait for me to call him? Will he wait a day, an hour, what does “soon” mean?! Not even 10 minutes after our date, he texted me saying he had a great time and couldn’t wait to see me again. The rest is history.
how they asked
Sometime within our first month, I knew he was the one. We met in October and by Thanksgiving and Christmas, we were celebrating with each others families. We love to travel and have traveled all over the Caribbean, Mexico, and the U.S. I had been wanting to go to London for a while so we finally decided to go in October of 2015.
We had an overnight flight and landed just around 10 AM. We hit the ground running walking from Hyde Park to Piccadilly Circus. We even found ourselves in the middle of a protest [so random!] Just as the sun was setting, we were making our way around the London Eye. Sean suggested we go on it since I had been talking about it. He said we had walked a lot so he would go wait in line for tickets if I wanted to sit down. He came back and said they had a shorter line where if you paid a little more, you could be a pod with a few other couples and there was a champagne toast. I didn’t think anything of it because Sean is the most impatient person in the world. After waiting about 10 minutes, a lady comes up to us, apologizes for the wait and says we will be upgraded to our own private pod. Sean played along with it, so again, I didn’t think anything of it.
Once we were in the pod, she poured us each a glass of champagne and said she would be in the background to answer any questions and to take pictures. About a quarter of the way up, the attendant asked if we would like more champagne. I look down at my glass, which was still full, and looked at Sean’s as he’s asking for more. I just laughed and said “thirsty bud?” As we were approaching the top of the London Eye, he came over to me and said something like “It’s no coincidence we’re here on the same day we went on our first date three years ago.” I then realized what was happening and was overcome with emotion. I watched him get down on one knee and show me the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen! Of course I said yes! It was the best start I’ve ever had to a vacation!
