how we met
Mitchell and I met in college at Cumberland University. He came to play baseball and I came in to play softball. We met in psychology class through a mutual friend. Our first conversation we ever had was during a skit we had to do for class and we were required to play a married couple!
how they asked
So I actually knew that Mitchell had the ring, some circumstances happened and I ended up having to find out. Although I knew he had it I had no idea when he was going to do it. I knew it was going to take him awhile to find the courage to ask so I wasn’t pushing anything. I was actually fully convinced he was going to do it over Thanksgiving since we would be with my family. So the weekend before Thanksgiving we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do and we decided that we would go and look at the lights at Opryland Hotel. We have gone every year we were together so it was an annual thing. We actually had a couple of friends join us as well. I had an awful day so it hadn’t even crossed my mind that it could have been happening that night. We made it to my favorite part of the lights, outside by the front driveway. All the trees are decorated and there are so many lights you can see them from the interstate! I wanted a picture, so one of our friends took my phone and actually started recording and got the whole proposal on video! Little did I know that was the last surprise. He actually coordinated for my mother and grandmother to be there from Alabama around the corner and was able to see the whole thing. I’m so close with both of them and it made our moment that much more special. Once we left the hotel, we headed home and our friends had a whole surprise engagement party planned and we were able to celebrate with them all night. It was a perfect night and I wish I could go back and relive it!
