How We Met
We first met when Luke had put an ad out looking for a nanny for his 3 children after becoming a single father. I discussed with Luke, however, due to my new work commitments, I realized the nanny position wasn’t for me and left it at that.
I was single and was “browsing” instead of setting up an RSVP profile and in doing so, I came across Luke’s profile. From there we started chatting and Luke said: “if you don’t find what you’re looking for on RSVP let me know and I’ll take you out for dinner”. I didn’t end up setting up a profile and took Luke up on his dinner date offer… That was 7 years ago and we’ve been together ever since.
How They Asked
Luke surprised me and arranged for a Chauffer to pick us up from our house and take us into the city for what I thought was dinner and a hotel for my 40th birthday the day before. I had no idea where we were going and we ended up at Pier One under the harbor bridge where we checked in and were greeted with champagne on arrival.
We went up to our room and Luke who had his hands full with a suitcase asked if I could open the door to the room for him. When I opened the door I could hear our favorite love song playing and saw a sea of white helium balloons and hanging from the strings were our photos from over the years.
I was gobsmacked and it was so beautiful and overwhelming. As I entered the room and saw the white rose petal aisle and the photographer, I realized what may be happening and made a trip to the bathroom where my emotions took control and I felt very overwhelmed, and tears of joy started flowing. After I composed myself, I continued walking the rose petal aisle and as I turned the corner to see the balcony with massive lit-up letters ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME’ and the beautiful candle & flower arrangements, my emotions again took control of me as Luke headed to the end of the aisle guiding me the whole way.
Luke dropped to his knee and asked me to marry him and I happily said yes, as you can see from the pictures.
