How We Met
Josh and I met when I was 16 and he was 20 at a house party he was throwing. We met, connected and stayed friends. For twelve years we stayed friends, through other relationships and all the craziness that is life. After 12 years, in 2012, Josh, I and a few others rented a house together as only friends. We grew extremely close over the first 6 months of living together. I mean we went everywhere together, texted all day, and were always hanging on the couch together.
On Thanksgiving of that same year I watched Josh kiss another girl. I knew right away watching that happen I had feelings, like real feelings for him. I tried to play it cool since we were only friends and honestly I didn’t want to admit my feelings for him. The next night we went to a guns and roses concert and he told me that he liked me too. 8 years later were engaged, own a house and have two kids together. If you would have told me at 16 or even 26; this is the man you’ll marry I would have laughed in your face. It just goes to show, ya just never know.
How They Asked
The mummer’s parade is a huge parade and party on New Year’s Day in the city of Philadelphia, where people dress in extravagant costumes and strut down the broad street while string bands play. Josh and I have been attending the parade first separately and then eventually together for what feels like forever. On January 1st, 2018, josh asked me to take a picture on a broad street, which is really hard to do because there is a constant stream of mummers walking down the street and preforming. So we go out on to broad street right in front of a group ready to preform. He dropped to one knee and proposed. The mummers quickly figured out what was happening and joined right in. Best day and moment of my entire life.
