how we met
Jack first saw me at a party freshmen year of college at Loyola College in Maryland but didn’t have the courage to talk to me until the following year. Once we started talking, we couldn’t get enough of each other and started dating a few months later. I seriously feel like I am the luckiest girl in the world to have found a man like Jack, who I know will stand by me through everything.
I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when I was four. It’s a disease that makes the mucous in your body extra sticky which can build up in your lungs. At 24 years old, my disease had progressed to the point where my only chance of survival was a double lung transplant. Jack is my rock and was there every second of the day as I waited for new lungs. He made me laugh when I thought I couldn’t, he helped me walk when I couldn’t make it across the room and he held me when I cried not knowing what our future held. After 6 long months on the transplant list, thanks to an amazing donor, I received my new lungs last June. Little did I know, but Jack had already asked my dad for my hand.
how they asked
Three months after my transplant, Jack gave me the surprise of my life. He told me that we were meeting family for dinner at the Wit & Wisdom at the Four Seasons in Baltimore, but when I arrived it was just him. Jack got down on one and need and popped the question as the sun set over the harbor!
After my obvious YES, he took me back inside where all my friends and family were waiting for us. He even flew in my all of my friends from Chicago and New York. It was the most amazing night of my life and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to marry my best friend! I can’t imagine going through life without him.
