How We Met
It all started in January 2013, when I became the Vice President of my Christian sorority, Sigma Phi Lambda. Calvin, the President of his Christian fraternity, Kappa Upsilon Chi, had a table in his storage closet in his house that belonged to Sigma Phi Lambda. I was starting Recruitment soon, so I needed the table back.
After work one night, I went over to Calvin’s house to pick up the table. Calvin was such a gentlemen, lugging the table from his house to my car and offering me any assistance. I went over to a sorority sister’s house afterwards and said that I could marry “that guy” because of how sweet and genuine he was. Little did I know what would happen down the road…
how they asked
A couple of days before Calvin proposed, he was acting extremely odd. He was taking calls away from me and being very secretive. On Saturday, I definitely thought he was going to propose. Saturday came and went and no proposal. That night, I told him that I was sad because I thought he was going to propose to me. Calvin laughed it off, saying that there was no way that he was proposing just yet. He told me he had a necklace to give me, and he wanted to give it to me somewhere special
On Sunday, September 2015, Calvin proposed to me at the St. James Cathedral in Downtown Orlando after mass. I was overjoyed, crying the happiest of tears. After he proposed, I turned around to another surprise- Some of my family and friends were there! After the proposal, we all went to a local diner to celebrate and enjoy some lunch.
It was truly a memorable day and I cannot wait until Calvin and I become one.
